Composition: 75 mL Saturated Picric Acid, 25 mL Formaldehyde (37-40%), 5 mL Glacial Acetic Acid.
Appearance: Yellow solution with a pungent odor.
pH: Highly acidic.
Fixation Performance: Excellent for preserving cytoplasmic detail and nuclear morphology, especially for embryos and small tissues.
Stability: Stable for 6 months when stored in a tightly closed, dark bottle.
Hazard Information
Hazard: Flammable liquid and vapor. Toxic if swallowed, in contact with skin or if inhaled. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. May cause an allergic skin reaction. Explosive when dry (Picric Acid).
Safety: TOXIC. CORROSIVE. FLAMMABLE. EXPLOSIVE. Use only in a fume hood. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, face protection. Keep wet.
Storage: Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, well-ventilated, fire-resistant place. Keep away from heat and open flames. Label appropriately.
